Aluminum Wood Window Coating Line

Project Overview

Aluminum-clad wood doors and windows combine the natural appearance of wood with the structural strength of aluminum profiles. In practical applications, such products usually have relatively high requirements for surface finishing, especially in terms of decorative consistency and outdoor durability.

In this project, the customer required a coating line that could maintain stable production performance while preserving a natural appearance quality of the product surface. Based on this requirement, we carried out a dedicated process design instead of directly applying a standard aluminum profile coating line configuration.

Surface Pretreatment System

According to the structural characteristics of aluminum-clad wood profiles, we designed a multi-stage pretreatment process including degreasing, cleaning, and surface conversion treatment.

In similar projects, we have found that coating stability is highly dependent on pretreatment consistency. Therefore, during this design, we focused more on process stability and repeatability rather than only process steps.

At the same time, edge areas and complex cross-sections were considered in the layout design, as these positions are more sensitive to adhesion variation in door and window applications.

Powder Coating ProcessThe main coating process adopts electrostatic powder spraying. For long profiles used in door and window applications, we placed more attention on coating thickness consistency and appearance uniformity along the full length of the workpiece.

During commissioning, spray gun arrangement and parameter settings were adjusted as reference points to help reduce potential uneven coating risks caused by complex profile geometry.

Curing System DesignThe curing oven was configured according to profile length and heat distribution requirements. In actual operation, uneven temperature distribution may not be immediately obvious, but it can affect coating consistency over timeTherefore, airflow organization and temperature zoning were adjusted to help maintain more stable curing conditions across different sections of the profile.

For long workpieces, heat distribution balance was also considered during design to support stable continuous operation.

Aluminum Wood Window Coating Line

Conveyor and Layout DesignThe conveyor system is designed for continuous production flow. Since aluminum-clad wood profiles are relatively long, stable support during transportation was considered in spacing and structure design.

At the same time, the layout was designed with future expansion in mind, leaving flexibility for capacity increase or additional process adjustments if needed.

Project ValueFrom our experience, aluminum-clad wood coating projects depend not only on equipment selection, but also on how well the process is matched with the material characteristics.

In this project, adjustments in pretreatment design, coating control strategy, and curing balance helped achieve more consistent coating performance under production conditions.

With the development of architectural materials, aluminum-clad wood doors and windows are being used in more high-end construction projects. A properly designed coating system plays an important role in maintaining both appearance quality and durability requirements.
